Our journey

Spending time in and around Kigali, we experienced the city’s drastic wealth disparity and poverty stricken communities. These conditions, however, did not draw from the children’s unrelenting smiles as they kicked their homemade footballs down the road on their way to school or played volleyball with broken tennis balls.

The schools

During our time there we visited a number of primary schools, playing football and volleyball with the kids. Speaking with the directors of these schools, it was apparent that the little amount of funding that they receive goes straight into materials for reading and writing, which leaves nothing for recreational equipment outside the classroom. We have partnered with a number of schools facing these challenges with the premise of returning to donate sports equipment.

Rwanda's main problem

A local student studying social sciences at the University of Kigali explained his experience growing up in the country’s capital and highlighted the challenges that the population faces on a day-to-day basis. The underlying problem is that due to the harsh climate, rugged terrain and geography of the country, Rwanda has very few natural resources and consequently has to import the majority of their goods.
